Cyclist Michael Campbell dies
The Lexington Police Department reports a bicyclist was killed in a collision with a car Tuesday afternoon. The collision occurred in the vicinity of South Upper Street and High Street around 4:16 p.m. According to police Lt. Dan Truex, the cyclist was taken to a hospital and was eventually pronounced deceased. Michael Campbell, 46, was confirmed as the cyclist by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Gary Ginn issued a press release stating that he was pronounced deceased at 5:07 pm and that his death was ruled an accident. It is unclear if the driver of the accident will be prosecuted.
Truex said the LPD Collision Reconstruction Unit was examining the collision Thursday morning. It is unknown what type of vehicle was involved in the collision.
