Biden, confused, wanders behind the podium and looks at the ground as Jordan’s king speaks

On Monday, a confused-looking President Biden paced back and forth behind Jordan’s King Abdullah II, apparently unsure of where to stand ahead of the royal’s comments.

“Your majesty, to you,” Biden, 81, told the king after welcoming him to the White House.

As Abdullah prepared to deliver his speech, the president shuffled behind him and the podium, looking at the ground as if searching for a mark indicating the proper place to stand.

Biden vacillated between two different locations before settling on what was initially his first choice, to the left side of Abdullah and in front of the Jordanian flag.

The president’s indecision seemed to unnerve the king, who at one point looked over his left shoulder expecting to see Biden, but he wasn’t there.

“I switched sides with you,” Biden said, before moving to the left side of the now smiling king.

The latest episode of confusion on the Biden stage comes days after special counsel Robert Hur opted not to recommend criminal charges against the president related to his handling of classified White House documents, in part because a jury may consider Biden as an “old man with a bad memory.”

Biden could not remember the years he served as Barack Obama’s vice president and when his late son Beau Biden died, according to Hur’s report.

“The world is laughing at America,” Andrew Giuliani, a former Trump administration official and son of the former mayor of New York, wrote on X, sharing images of the strange moment.

“Don’t judge his mental acuity. Judge him by his ability to do things, like stand where the tape is and do it on the appropriate side of his guest,” radio host and political strategist Melik Abdul sarcastically commented on X.

Steve Flesch, a PGA Champions Tour golfer, was among several X users who criticized Democrats for “throwing it out,” hoping the public “will think it’s ‘fine.'”

“I’m ashamed of them. This is elder abuse,” Flesch charged.

Some on social media came to Biden’s defense, arguing that the incident was not that alarming.

“Biden’s age is concerning, but he’s obviously looking for the floor marker for the camera shot,” said X user Josh Fields. “Normally they put a piece of tape on the floor. They do this in movies, plays, television, print, etc. “I’ve seen other really worrying things, this isn’t one of them.”

Public polls over the past year have consistently shown that a large majority of voters are concerned about Biden’s mental fitness for office.

Currently, 86% of Americans believe Biden is “too old” to be president, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday and conducted after the release of the Hur report, while 62% said the same of former president Donald Trump, 77 years old. who seeks revenge against Biden in the November elections.
