President Biden boasted that America is “coming back” and is in “a better position” to lead, despite his dismal approval rating and continued national economic woes.
Ahead of the midnight countdown to 2024, Biden, 81, and first lady Jill Biden, 72, appeared via satellite from their St. Croix beach getaway on ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest in Times Square.
“My hope is that everyone has a healthy, happy and safe new year, but beyond that I hope that they understand that we are in a better position than any country in the world to lead the world. We will be back and it’s time,” Biden smiled in the broadcast. according to the clip shared on X.
When asked about his highlights for 2023, Biden referred to an anecdote about his late father.
“One of the highlights stands out to me… my dad used to have an expression. He said: Joey, a job is much more than a salary, it’s about your dignity, it’s about respect,” the president recalled.

“Many people in the Midwest and Midwest, whose jobs were sent overseas the last two times, were losing hope and faith,” he continued.

The commander in chief did not mention how wages and incomes are still struggling to keep up with price increases, an issue that has put Biden at odds with the electorate as the bitter 2024 presidential election approaches.
Even the president’s supporters are skeptical of the administration’s so-called “Bidenomy” in the election campaign.

Dr. Jill Biden also touched on her career as an educator, telling Seacrest that her message was to think positively about 2024.
“I think that’s what I would always tell my students: be positive, be optimistic, be kind to each other. Happy New Year,” he explained.
The couple also talked about their Christmas parties, which included a nod to Biden’s notorious fondness for ice cream.
“I’ve been eating everything they put in front of me. Pasta, which I love. “Eating a lot of chicken, chicken parmesan,” listed the octogenarian.
Seacrest also asked Biden about his holiday eating habits.
Jill Biden reminded her husband that he had also been eating ice cream, which the president said was “chocolate chip” flavored.
Biden’s optimistic message for the near future comes as his approval rating hovers at a dismal 37.2 percent, while more than half of Americans disapprove of his economic leadership.
Today, the administration faces a seemingly endless series of crises, from the lingering effects of decades-long high inflation to wars in both Ukraine and the Middle East.

A day before the New Year’s Eve chin shake with Seacrest, a reporter also grilled the president about his 2024 resolutions while he was out for dinner with Jill and her granddaughter, Natalie.

Biden spent more than a third of 2023 in a vacation spot or at Camp David, the data revealed.
His favorite hideout was Delaware, where he spent about 90 days at his residence in Greenville or at his beach house in Rehoboth.
