Bride Gets Escorted Down The Wedding Aisle By Doctors Who Helped Her Survive Cancer

It is not every day that a bride walks down the aisle. Sherri Shaw asked her oncology doctors to walk with her down the aisle during her wedding to her now-husband, Bill James. She felt they were like fate’s helpers who saved her and gave her the chance to get married after they helped her survive cancer.

Shaw shared that she found out she had stage three colorectal cancer just two months after meeting James. When she was getting treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, back in 2021, her doctors were Dr. Emma Holliday and Dr. Van Morris. Before her wedding, Shaw asked her doctors if they would do her honour and walk her down the aisle on the day of her nuptials.

Shaw Believed That Her Doctors Were ‘Hands Of Fate’ That Made Her Wedding Possible

In a conversation with CBS News, Shaw recalled, “I realized that they were such a part of me being able to marry my best friend that I wanted them there, I wanted them to celebrate, but more than that, I wanted them both to escort me down the aisle so they could actually give me to Bill because they were the hands of fate that saved me and allowed me time to marry Bill.”
