Three British Airways crew members who claimed to have been assaulted in Brazil allegedly enjoyed a crazy night of debauchery, causing a packed flight to be postponed.
The trio were due to fly back to London Heathrow Airport from Rio de Janeiro on September 5, but flight BA248 was abruptly postponed after they claimed they had been robbed the night before and were “too traumatized to work,” according to The Sun.
A local police investigation found that the airline employees, ages 40, 39 and 31, “did not tell the truth and did not say what really happened that morning.”
Cops discovered that the employees, who claimed their phones had been snatched by thugs in the robbery, actually lost their devices after a night of heavy drinking.
They were also accused of taking Class A drugs during the night out, before trying to cover their tracks in a desperate bid to stay out of trouble with the airline.
“This is a police matter,” a British Airways spokesperson told the Post.

“The surprising thing is how a crew that has such an important role spends all night drinking and consuming drugs, knowing that the next day they would have the responsibility of caring for dozens of people who would travel for hours,” Patricia Alemany, Chief of Police Tourism Support Special, he told local media Globo.
Moments after reporting the false robbery, the trio allegedly took a taxi and headed to an abandoned gas station in Vaz Lobo, north of Rio.
Officers are considering charging the staff with “falsely reporting a crime.”

Surveillance footage shows the three crew members in the city around 4:50 am.
“They created these stories to try to justify probably inappropriate behavior outside of company rules,” Deputy Police Chief Danielle Bullus told the outlet. “But we discovered that there was a theft of a cell phone belonging to the couple who was in Vaz Lobo.”
Cops believe one employee in particular drank “to the point of unconsciousness.”

After nearby construction workers revived him and called for medical assistance, the employee allegedly “displayed a pin of white powder; police believe it is cocaine.”
Once he was taken to the hospital, the man allegedly admitted to using drugs and drinking with two local women.
The ordeal comes when a married British Airways pilot snorted coke off a topless woman’s chest while partying in South Africa before attempting to fly dazed on a packed flight to London, according to a report.
Mike Beaton had a night off for “down time” in Johannesburg before he was scheduled to be co-pilot on a flight back to London in September, the Sun reported.
He spent the night consuming alcohol, drugs and women, he boasted in text messages he sent to a flight attendant friend.
