You’re not a karaoke regular if you haven’t heard the name Frank Sinatra. The American actor and jazz sensation was known for being the artist of the century. He became a name synonymous with fame. But it turns out that his name has recently been associated with some questionable incidents at karaoke booths.

Sinatra’s biggest hit of all time, ‘My Way’, has been dubbed the world’s most dangerous karaoke song after people died while singing the song. A series of sinister incidents in the Philippines in recent decades have led people to believe that the murders have something to do with Sinatra’s song. The incidents are known as the “my way murders.”

One of those incidents took place in 2007

Interestingly, since 1998, the year Frank Sinatra died, there have been a series of violent incidents in the Philippines as a result of the track. One of the most shocking cases occurred in 2007 in a bar in San Mateo, Riza. A 29-year-old woman named Romy Baligula lost her life in a shooting instigated by a 43-year-old security guard named Robilito Ortega.

Apparently, Romy had only completed half of the song when the security guard intervened, telling her to stop her sorry attempt and telling her that her singing was out of tune. Despite defying firm instructions, the man continued singing, prompting the guard to pull his revolver and shoot the singer in the chest.

The fights were so bad that some bars decided to remove the song from their karaoke machines because they feared it would make things worse.
