An alleged child rapist escaped from a police car during a snowstorm in Memphis and then turned himself in less than an hour later, having proven no match for the freezing weather.
Demarkus Davis, 20, was being transported to the Shelby County Jail Sunday night as snow covered the streets of Memphis when he somehow managed to escape from a patrol car while handcuffed, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Memphis.

Less than 45 minutes after his brazen escape, David reportedly stopped a stranger and asked him to call the police so he could turn himself in.
He was picked up around 11:35 pm about a half mile from where he escaped.

Davis was booked into the county jail early Monday morning on the two counts of child rape, as well as an additional charge of escape that was added following his brief escape.
He remained behind bars Wednesday on $76,000 bail.
