The Raiduram traffic police in Madhapur, Hyderabad, closed their post on Tuesday to ease traffic congestion and urged ‘Kumari Aunty’ to relocate it.

‘Kumari Aunty’ rose to fame on social media in the last two months, drawing huge crowds to her roadside restaurant near ITC Kohenur junction in Madhapur. The stall served rice, chicken, mutton curry and a variety of other non-vegetarian dishes.

Why did the food stand close?

However, after multiple complaints from commuters about traffic jams, the police intervened and ordered the store to close.

Kumari aunty responded to orders to close her business and claimed that she had been running the stall for more than 13 years. She also revealed that her husband was furious that the closure was due to media prominence.

How was the situation resolved?

According to CMO officials, the Chief Minister would probably visit the restaurant within a day or two to reassure small business owners like Kumari Aunty.
