‘Cocky’ tourists almost swept into sea while trying to take photo on Iceland’s most dangerous beach

A group of “cocky” tourists were almost swept into the sea while trying to take a holiday photo on Iceland’s most dangerous beach.

A man and a woman headed towards the coast and raised their hands above their heads, with their backs to the camera, to take a nice photo at Black Sand Beach in Iceland.

Moments later a small wave crashed against the shore, its wake spreading towards the tourists, who tried to flee but could not escape its powerful prey.

They both fall, but the man was able to right himself before rushing to grab the woman to prevent her from being dragged into the water.

“Two ‘cocky’ tourists were knocked over by a powerful wave on Black Sand Beach in Iceland, one of the most dangerous beaches in the world,” wrote a TikTok user named Kelsey, who took the video.

“The number one rule on this beach is: ‘Never turn your back to the waves’ and don’t go where you can’t see other tracks.”

The tourist couple appears to have escaped safely from the powerful clutches of the wave, but then appeared shaken.

Kelsey said the beach is dangerous because of its “slipper waves” that “look calm and small, but are actually so powerful that they sweep people into the ocean and people have died here.”

“Some people will do anything for a video or a photo,” he criticized.

Black Sand Beach, also known as Reynisfjara Beach, is located along the southern coast of the island and is known for its black sand, which comes from volcanic activity in the area.
