Coco Gauff hinted at her future as a US Open champion 11 years ago when she was filmed dancing in the stands at Flushing Meadows to Carly Ray Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

The teenage phenom made tennis history on Saturday after her 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final, her first Grand Slam victory.

Gauff is the first American to win in Queens since 2017 and the youngest American champion since Serena Williams in 1999.

Gauff danced less at this US Open, but there was still plenty of celebration.

As soon as she scored the final point against Sabalenka, a 25-year-old Belarusian player and the world’s top-ranked player, she collapsed on the court and burst into tears as the crowd erupted.
