Early life of Mary Shriver
Shriver was born on November 6, 1955 in Texas, Illinois. She is the second daughter of politician Sargent Shriver and activist Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, was the sister of John F. Robert and Ted Kennedy. She is therefore popularly known as the niece of the late US President John F. Kennedy, US Attorney General and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, US Senator Ted Kennedy and six other prominent siblings. Maria Shriver is Roman Catholic and is of mostly Irish and German descent. Shriver is related to tennis player Pam Shriver as her fourth cousin.
Shriver attended high school while living in Paris, France. For a very brief period, Shriver’s family temporarily moved to Chicago, Illinois, in the summer of 1968. The reason was his mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s, work with the Special Olympics. Maria Shriver permanently returned from France to Bethesda, Maryland, USA and then attended Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart High School and completed her education in 1973.
