A Connecticut couple was charged with disorderly conduct after berating a pair of Puerto Rican landscapers and accusing the brothers of being in the United States illegally.
The ugly confrontation caught on camera began when Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, verbally attacked landscapers who were working on a nearby home in Middletown, Connecticut.
The couple originally approached José Martín and his brother, both Puerto Rican, to complain about the noise, but the confrontation quickly escalated.
“I was thinking he was going to ask us for a job or do something in his yard,” Martin told WFSB. “As soon as I saw her cursing at us, I grabbed my phone immediately. I said, ‘Okay, this is going to be a problem.'”
The brothers were cutting down trees when the couple approached to complain.
Bourgeois-Williams can be seen in a video posted on Facebook: “J. Martin Landscaping likes to videotape people complaining about being loud all damn day. Do you still want to make noise in the neighborhood? “We don’t do that sh*t here.”
Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, were charged with disorderly conduct after verbally attacking two landscapers who were working on a nearby home in Middletown, Connecticut. “The couple was arrested because their hostile behavior prevented an employee from moving freely on the road,” Middleton police said.
The couple also filmed the Martin brothers while the two brothers were calmly on the street. They complained that the couple had been “making noise all day” and asked “what they had done” before asking them if they spoke English.
“It makes some good videos to have to cross the border again,” Bourgeois-Williams said. “You are clowns. Do you have a visa? Do you have a visa to be here? Do you have a visa to be here? Are you here legally?
Bourgeois-Williams continued to harass José’s brother, who was only heard speaking Spanish to his brother in the video, while Shaw teased him: “You make noise all day and you don’t give a damn.”

Brenda De Jesus, a relative of the brothers, said the two men “never set foot on their property.”
“They were just doing their job and these racist, disgusting people did all this because of the noise of the lawnmower, trimmer, etc.,” De Jesus wrote.
