Couple decides to get married in a residence
Bianca Suárez, 39, and her fiancé, Mark Rodgers, 43, got engaged in February 2009, but things kept going and they never got married. That was until Bianca’s ailing great-grandmother, Margaret Ripley, 99, told a staff member at her nursing home that she feared she might not live long enough to see them get married.
As a result, the staff recommended that Bianca and Mark, a worker, finally spend their big day at the facility, allowing Margaret to walk Bianca down the aisle.
“We were going to try to save enough money this year to get married next year, but it seemed nan wouldn’t be here,” said Bianca, a caretaker from Woking, Surrey.
The couple wanted to have a less expensive wedding.
“First, we decided to put on a mock wedding where we dressed up and the employees pretended to be the vicar. But then we decided to play it cool and have her walk me down the aisle. It was a struggle to get everything together over time, but it worked out.” came true,” he explained.
Organizing the wedding on such short notice was stressful, but Mark and Bianca were helped by nursing home employees and their loved ones.
“I posted on Facebook asking if dreams can come true and detailing how sick Nan was and how we pushed up the wedding because of it,” Bianca explained.
“Because we didn’t have a lot of money, we asked if we could borrow property from individuals and the response was amazing.”
