In the video, she says, “Here’s a safety tip for all my families.”

“Have a keyword that you can incorporate into daily life.”

“This is something I had with my parents growing up. I use it my entire life, and it’s something we still use to this day.”

Expanding on this idea, Dannah provided more details, adding:

‘Now this could be used in a dangerous situation or just simple situations where your child wants you to be the one to say no to something – some examples. If someone is picking up your child from school other than you or your partner, give that person this code word so your child knows that mom and dad trust them. And make sure they know, no matter how credible the story is, unless they use that keyword, they should not go with that individual.

“A code word is something that could also be used in a dangerous situation. Say a child is home alone and someone walks into that house, or someone they know even walks into that house and doesn’t feel safe; they can call their mom and dad and somehow throw that key word into the conversation, and then the dad knows something’s not right.”

Danna added: ‘Lastly, one code word saved me in so many situations with my friends growing up, specifically when I wanted to send a secret message to my parents so they knew they were the ones to say no and that I didn’t seem like the bad guy.’

“An example might be that your child invites a friend over and that friend asks to stay over. Then your child can come up to you and use that keyword in normal conversation so you know the answer should be no. “.

“Or let’s say your child is at a party and things start to get out of control and you no longer feel safe. You could pick up the phone, call them and, in casual conversation, introduce that word and you know you should come get them” .

The content creator, who also established her own fitness empire, concluded her explanation by saying:

“There really are a lot of benefits to having a familiar keyword.”

Viewers reacted to the video and praised her.

A comment on the video read: ‘We have one. I haven’t had to use it, but my son feels comforted knowing that he is there.”

A third person wrote: “Great idea.”

In a follow-up video, as many requested, Dannah provided a list of examples of familiar keywords.

She advised, ‘When it comes to a familiar keyword, it’s definitely something you don’t want to think about too much.

“Now, this could be absolutely anything, but in my personal opinion, it’s not something that should be too common or something that is used in the family every day.”

Sharing her thoughts, Dannah added: “This could be a sport that no one in your family plays, or it could be a food that no one likes.”
