Here is a list of people from around the world who became millionaires, billionaires and even trillionaires for a second:
Dad who became the 25th richest man
In 2022, a father living in Louisiana, USA, got some money. On a day like any other, Darren James’ wife alerted him that they had miraculously received more than $50 billion into her account.
The erroneous transaction made James the 25th richest man in the world in an instant. Although he somewhat enjoyed the fantasy, James immediately came to his senses and contacted his bank, Chase, and informed them about the money.
Consequently, the money was put on hold and was soon withdrawn from his account a few days later. However, the bank never revealed who the money came from or why the mistake was made. It all ended with a dream possibility.
The world’s first billionaire
A Texas man, Reggie Theus, discovered one day that he had somehow become the world’s first billionaire. Once he discovered that he had made a lot of money, he decided to help people and thought about paying off the national debt of Americans.
Unfortunately for the citizens, the bank realized they had made a mistake and took the $4 billion they had mistakenly credited to Theus’ account.
Chennai taxi driver turned crorepati for 30 minutes
In one of the most recent cases of banking messes, a taxi driver from Chennai had the opportunity to fly with the Crorepatis for about 30 minutes. Rajkumar received a surprise notification on his phone informing him that Rs 9,000 crore had been credited to his account.
Unlike those who took the right path with money, within a span of half an hour, Rajkumar managed to send Rs 21,000 to a friend before the bank corrected its mistake. However, the taxi driver did gain something from the bank’s shenanigans.
After striking a deal with the Tamil Nadu bank, Rajkumar kept the money he had already transferred and was also offered a car loan. A glass half full, by the way.
HDFC Customers Enter Millionaire Market in Minutes
Once, not only one lucky customer but also a large number of people associated with HDFC bank got a taste of easy money. In 2022, customers of a bank in Chennai became millionaires for a few hours due to a technical issue in HDFC.
The bank accounts were immediately frozen and the money was recovered within hours.
Teenager reaches a million in a few hours
A teenager from Northern Ireland jumped with excitement when he discovered he had become a millionaire overnight. A banking error deposited 8.9 million pounds (almost 92 million rupees).
Dane’s unexpected change of fortune began when he deposited a check for £8,900 (approximately Rs 9.18 lakh) from his grandmother. Little did he know that this routine banking transaction would lead to a revelation that would change his life.
However, the joy was short-lived as the bank took the money in just a few hours.
