Private jet leaves ‘without permission’ causing plane collision at Houston airport: FAA

A Texas airport temporarily suspended all flights Tuesday when a private jet departed “without permission” and collided with another plane on the tarmac, officials said.

A twin-engine Hawker H25B left Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport “without permission” around 3:30 p.m. local time Tuesday and collided with a twin-engine Cessna C510 as it landed on a nearby runway. the Federal Aviation Administration wrote in.

“Two private planes clipped their wings while moving on the airfield…No injuries were reported,” Hobby Airport said in its own statement.

The two small planes had visible damage after the accident, according to images from ABC13.

“We just had a flight… you just cleared someone to take off or land and we had a minor departure,” the Cessna pilot can be heard saying in audio obtained by the media.

Some disgruntled passengers even left their luggage behind rather than wait for news, as video from inside Hobby Airport shows.

The FAA said the number of passengers on both the Hawker and Cessna has not been determined.

It is unclear whether the Hawker pilot will face consequences for taking off without permission.
