Did you know that some Latin American countries were inspiration for Disney to create some of the landscapes in its films? Here we tell you about the films inspired by Latin America.
While it is true there are some films that are completely inspired by some cultures of countries like Mexico and Colombia, stories like Coco and Encanto, there are others that are not so obvious.
What many Hondurans did not know is that Honduras also served as inspiration for Pixar films.
These are the five Disney films that were inspired by Latin American landscapes:
River
This film is inspired by the famous Rio de Janeiro carnival in Brazil. The protagonist of this film tours some places in the South American country such as the incredible views of Guanabara Bay, the favelas in Brazil, the famous Christ the Redeemer and the lush jungle of the Tijuca National Park.
Charm
Mirabel and the Madrigal family are Colombians. The film shows elements such as flora, fauna, food, landscapes, music and even the taste for coffee that so characterizes Colombia.
Coconut
The Day of the Dead holiday, which is an important part of Mexican culture, also has a movie at Disney. And Coco reflects iconic scenes from that country.
Above: a high adventure
After Ellie’s death, Mr. Fredricksen seeks to fulfill his mistress’s dream of finding the Falls of Paradise. This wonderful place is inspired by Angel Falls, known as the highest waterfall in the world, located in the Canaima National Park, in Venezuela. The waterfall reaches 979 meters high and is protected as a world heritage site.
The jungle book
Did you know that this film is inspired by Pulhapanzak Falls? One of the scenes in this movie shows a beautiful waterfall, which is a portrait of the falls located in San Buenaventura, Cortés.
