Seven passengers and one crew member were hospitalized after an international JetBlue flight experienced “sudden, severe turbulence” as it approached a Florida airport Monday morning, officials said.
JetBlue Flight 1256 was traveling to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from Ecuador when the plane suddenly began to shake, the company told ABC News and other media.

The plane made a safe landing and was quickly met by doctors on the ground.
The seven travelers and the airline worker were taken to the hospital where they were evaluated and treated, JetBlue said.
No further information on the condition of the eight people was immediately released.
The flight landed just after 5 a.m., according to online records.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it would investigate the incident on the Airbus A320.
JetBlue said the plane involved has been taken out of service and will be inspected.
