“Secretary of Homeland Security [Alejandro] Mayorkas issued written guidance making clear that: Illegal presence alone is not grounds for deportation.” the technology mogul wrote.

Only one of the accused asylum seekers, Yohenry Brito, 24, was ordered held on bail, and the judge set it at $15,000 cash or $50,000 bail.
More than 170,000 immigrants have flooded into the five boroughs since spring 2022, and a handful of them have occasionally broken the law, including the beating of a high-profile police officer.
Republicans on Capitol Hill and even some Democrats have sharply criticized President Biden and his administration for their handling of the immigration crisis at the US border.

Musk’s online claims about immigrant-driven voter turnout come as a Republican-led House panel last week approved articles of impeachment against Mayorkas over his handling of the border crisis.
Musk posted an online poll on X asking readers if Mayorkas should be charged.
When a commenter chimed in that the secretary of Homeland Security should “face criminal charges for blatantly violating his oath,” Musk responded, “I agree.”
