Elon Musk Plans To Remove Block Feature From ‘X,’ Users Think It’s A Big Mistake

Ever since Elon Musk took charge of Twitter, now X, things have gotten quite heated at the company. From firing entire teams to changing the name of the app, Musk has tried everything. Well, almost everything.

It looks like a recent question on the “bird” app gave the CEO some new ideas about yet another change that could turn the platform upside down.

Musk’s latest idea is to remove a crucial safety feature from the app. He expressed his wish to remove the block feature from the platform.

This would get rid of the ability a user has to block any individual on the platform.

He backed up his decision with the logic that blocking just “makes no sense.” The abrupt announcement caught people off guard and led to outrage from users who considered it rather irresponsible to get rid of the feature itself when people who wish not to use it can simply ignore the button.

He replied to a tweet that asked people on the internet their reasons for blocking or muting someone. In the tweet, Musk declared that blocking will be removed as a feature on the platform and will only be available on DMs for people who wish not to get unnecessary and often harmful direct messages.

This Could Result In The App Being Kicked Out Of App Stores

Users raised the concern that if Elon Musk removed the block feature, then the app would apparently be in violation of the Apple App Store policy as well as the Google Play Store policy. This decision could potentially lead to the app being kicked out of these platforms and ending up only being available for web users.

The majority of the responses to Musk’s announcement were negative, as users were irked by the CEO’s random updates.

In my opinion it’s worth having. Unfortunately trolls and spammers come out. Haters will always try to get some fame over trolling accounts and bashing their name through the mud and being able to control the experience matters. At least for reach user.

Blocking is a good way to prevent scammers/bots from replying to future posts in the time they’re waiting to be actioned.I also think blocking should be encouraged in place of reporting when people are getting unwanted replies & in cases when there’s no ToS violation.

After reading the replies – only about 1% of users agree with this.
