Ethan Nordean of the Proud Boys sentenced to 18 years for his role in the attack on the Capitol

WASHINGTON – A leader of the far-right Proud Boys was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Friday, while another member received 10 years for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump.

Ethan Nordean, one of the group’s leaders, was sentenced to 18 years in prison, less than what prosecutors were asking for. Nordean had been convicted of seditious conspiracy and other crimes.

“If we don’t have a peaceful transfer of power in this country, we won’t have anything,” US District Judge Timothy Kelly said.
