Although many pageants include a round or two of no-makeup moments in the competition, it is reported to be the first time that around two dozen contestants in a beauty pageant shed their second skin for the entire event.

During the pageant, these contestants strutted down the ramp with their gleaming bare faces while trying to impress the judges with their unaltered faces and ethically sourced outfits.

The setting of the pageant at the regional heats made it the first time in Miss England’s 95-year history that a pageant was organized to allow contestants to participate without any make-up highlighting their sharp cheekbones. Organizers said it was a first for Britain and probably a first for the world as well.

They hoped the decision to alter the traditional pageant model would “empower women, increase confidence and promote a more realistic body image, focusing on natural appearance.”
