Father and son rescued from frigid ocean waters off California by rescue swimmers

A father and his young son were rescued from frigid ocean waters by rescue divers near Pacifica on Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Several agencies converged north of Mori Point, a scenic California site, after receiving calls from the two family members “in distress” around 12:32 p.m., the North County Fire Authority said, according to Mercury News.

The swimmers brought the couple back to land just west of Sharp Park Golf Course, where doctors treated them before they were reportedly taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

The father and son are expected to be okay, authorities said.

There were no other injuries involved in the rescue.

Firefighters emphasized that ocean currents and low water temperatures can quickly cause fatigue to a swimmer in the ocean, NBC Bay Area reported.

The father and son, who are expected to be okay, were not injured during the rescue.

The stretch of coast recently suffered tragedy when a 54-year-old man was swept into the sea at Martin’s Beach in November and while his granddaughter was rescued, the 5-year-old boy later died in hospital, according to reports.
