Father of missing Israeli woman heard gunshots before phone cut off

The father of a missing Israeli woman heard gunshots while talking to his terrified daughter on the phone before the line went dead, the woman’s mother told The Post.

“She said, ‘They’re shooting.’ They’re shooting at us! They are getting closer. Take care of the dog,’ and then they cut off our phone,” Orin Gatz said in a telephone interview from Israel.

Their daughter, Eden Zecharya, 28, has not been seen since leaving the Tribe of Nova music festival in the Negev desert with her boyfriend and friend.

“I can’t believe I’m praying that she will be kidnapped by the worst terrorist organization in the world and not murdered,” the distraught 48-year-old mother said in Hebrew, speaking through a translator.

Zecharya, a media studies student, left the festival shortly before Hamas fighters stormed Saturday’s party, killing at least 260 attendees and kidnapping dozens.

“He left the party because he wanted to come home,” Gatz said.
