Feel Good Plot:
Feel Good focuses on two main characters, George and Mae. George (full name Georgina “George” Lawson) is a middle-class English woman who is sexually repressed. Mae (based on real-world comedian Mae Martin) is a Canadian comedian. The two first meet when Mae performs at a local comedy club. Although her performance falls flat as a whole, there is one person in the audience who seems to be enjoying her jokes: George! After Mae’s performance is over, the two start talking, staying late at the club, drinking, and exchanging kisses before returning to George’s apartment. The two have sex and, although this is George’s first same-sex relationship, they decide to start dating. George moves in with Mae after dating for three months, but soon discovers that Mae is a former narcotics addict. Eventually, the two decide to attend a meeting of the NA (Narcotics Anonymous) group, and it is later revealed that George herself had struggled with cocaine addiction. The show follows the couple as they navigate the ups and downs of daily life, loss, drug addiction, casual sex, prison time, and romance.
