Final 2023 Powerball drawing could net potential winner nearly $800 million

Could there be some early New Year’s celebrations?

The penultimate Powerball of 2023 had no jackpot winner Wednesday night, meaning the final drawing of 2023 could net one potential winner nearly $800 million.

The winning numbers were 4, 11, 38, 51, 68, with the Powerball 5 red. The Power Play option was 3X.

While no one took home the estimated $685 million prize, one lucky winner in Texas scored $2 million after matching all five white balls and the Power Play.

Another million dollars was snatched up in California when a player matched all five white numbers.

Saturday’s drawing will have a grand prize of approximately $760 million, or a cash value of $382.5 million.

Powerball winners have the option of receiving the jackpot in increments of 30 payments over 29 years or a single lump sum.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.

Wednesday night’s no-win tickets continued a streak of 33 drawings without grand prize winners, dating back to Oct. 11, when someone bought his life-changing $1.76 million ticket in Frazier Park, California.

The identity of the winner has not been revealed, nor whether he chose the $1.76 billion option or the $774.1 million cash prize.

It is believed that the latest winner is a local from the area who plays the lottery “religiously.”

“There are people who come every day to buy their tickets, we know them by name and I’m sure someone will be screaming up and down,” an employee at Midway Market & Liquors, the store that sold the ticket, told KCAL in time.

The Powerball jackpot has increased to an estimated $760 million for the next drawing on Saturday, December 30.

There have been five jackpot winners in 2023, and 3 of them are part of the top 10 Powerball jackpots of all time.

The winning tickets were purchased in Washington, Virginia, Ohio and two in California.

The largest prize of 2.04 billion dollars. It was won in November 2022 by Edwin Castro.

Castro opted for the more modest cash prize of $997 million and has since been building his real estate portfolio and car collection.

Before California state lottery law required his name to be revealed, Castro “disappeared” for a few weeks and invited some of his friends on a vacation to Fiji, The Post reported earlier this month.

The 31-year-old Los Angeles resident kept his new fortune a secret and “disappeared” from social media.
