What happened to Beatriz Amma?
Beatriz Amma underwent a series of 60 injections containing vitamins B1 and C and “rapidly dissolving” deoxycholic acid distributed throughout her arms, back and stomach. However, her life took a sudden and unexpected turn shortly after this treatment.
How did the injections affect Amma?
She revealed to Kennedy News, “I got hives on my skin and they started to appear in the areas where I had been given the injections… My whole body seemed to self-destruct.”
What is Mycobacterium abscessus?
The diagnosis was discouraging: Mycobacterium abscessus, a bacterial infection that causes painful skin lesions. Medical experts linked it to an incorrect injection of deoxycholic acid.
For Amma, a former swimsuit model who dreams of being a fitness influencer and traveling, her life changed dramatically.
He underwent numerous surgeries to remove infected tissue and required six hours a day of intravenous antibiotic treatments, even three years later. This story is even more disturbing because everything seemed completely normal.
How did LA Spa respond?
The Los Angeles spa that administered Amma’s injections projected an image of cleanliness, professionalism and safety.
“An employee assured me that it was produced by a highly reputable company and even showed me the vials. I was excited.” Mrs. Amma recalled.
Previous studies have shown a worrying link between improper injections and skin reactions, underscoring the dangers that people like Amma unknowingly take on when seeking cosmetic procedures.

The experience became a battle for survival, leaving Amma confined to her bed and her body seemingly becoming her enemy.
“I couldn’t even get dressed. I needed help going to the bathroom, showering and changing. I felt like I was deteriorating in bed.” he recalled, describing how his body was devastated.
Beatriz Amma vividly remembers the fear that the flesh-eating disease could take her life.
“I prayed to God and said, ‘If this is my time, take me.’ My body had reached its limit. I clearly remember feeling such unbearable pain that I thought I wouldn’t survive that night. I couldn’t fight anymore.”
“Every time I look in the mirror, I remember how much of my life I have lost in this ordeal. I dreamed of becoming a fitness influencer and appreciated traveling and wearing bikinis. I had worked tirelessly to achieve the body I had.” she said.
His doctors told him, “You will have this condition indefinitely; give up your aspirations to be an influencer and your skin will constantly alarm people.”
How is Amma recovering from the horrible experience?
Despite her traumatic experience, Ms. Amma is determined not to let it define her. Instead, she dedicates her efforts to promoting body positivity and raising awareness about this disfiguring ailment.
However, her battle against the consequences of that unfortunate spa visit continues.
She said, “I am now in the third year of this journey, and it is far from over. I would never have imagined that something seemingly simple could almost claim my life and leave me still fighting for survival.”
