WWE co-founder Vince McMahon is under federal investigation over sexual assault and sex trafficking allegations against him, according to a report.
New York prosecutors have been in contact with alleged victims of McMahon’s sexual misconduct, people familiar with the investigation told the Wall Street Journal.
McMahon resigned from WWE last week after former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexually abusing her and trafficking her to other men within the wrestling giant.
The former boss denied the accusations and said the federal investigation will find no irregularities.
“I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless allegations and look forward to clearing my name,” he told the outlet in a statement.
WWE did not respond to the Journal’s requests about the investigation or about the allegations from individual women.
Grant, who worked in the company’s legal and talent departments, made disturbing allegations in her lawsuit filed in federal court in Connecticut that McMahon defecated on her head during a threesome in May 2020 and sexually trafficked her to other executives at the company. the WWE.

Grant’s lawsuit comes after the Journal reported last year that WWE was investigating an alleged $3 million payment from McMahon to a departing employee following a consensual affair.
The former employee, later revealed to be Grant, claims in her lawsuit that she received an initial payment of $1 million, but no additional payment afterward.
A subsequent investigation found that McMahon paid $14.6 million to several women who accused him of sexual misconduct.
Grant’s lawsuit also claims that he shared nude photos of her and explicit videos of her without her consent with other WWE employees and ordered her to have sexual relationships with other executives and a wrestling star.
Grant also names WWE and John Laurinaitis, the company’s former head of talent relations and general manager, as defendants in the lawsuit.
In July 2023, federal agents executed a search warrant and served a grand jury subpoena on McMahon, according to a regulatory filing.
Last week, Grant broke his silence through his St. Louis attorney, Ann Callis.
“He hopes that those in the company, past and present, who are afraid to speak out about the damage will be a thing of the past. He wishes everyone peace,” Callis said in a statement.
Grant is seeking unspecified monetary damages and for the court to void his confidentiality agreement.
