Google has released another video ad as part of its ongoing “#BestPhonesForever” campaign, this time showcasing the imminent arrival of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
The ads, however, make light-hearted commentary on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, implying that future Pixel phones will surpass Apple’s offerings in terms of innovation and artificial intelligence.
The battle of innovation
Google presents the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max in the marketing video as lacking any significant updates, claiming that they simply have a different mute button, a more dynamic island, and a new charging connector.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro is said to be packed with AI capabilities and has an attractive appearance. Google seems to want to present the Pixel 8 series as more inventive and technologically advanced than the iPhone.
Perception versus reality
While Google’s video ads attempt to dampen the hype around the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, it’s important to note that Apple’s products have received a lot of attention and popularity.
In the past, people have lined up outside Apple stores in numerous countries to get their hands on the latest iPhone models.
Google’s attempt to tarnish Apple’s reputation in this regard may not reflect the reality of consumer demand and enthusiasm surrounding the iPhone.
The intention behind the ads
Google’s video ads, which emphasize the concept of “Best Friends Forever,” are designed to be sweet and fun, but they are also a calculated attempt to hit Apple where Google feels it will hurt it the most.
Google is looking to position itself as a smartphone competitor to Apple by hinting that the upcoming Pixel phones will be more inventive, flashy, and capable of delivering the best AI experience.
Google Pixel 8 release date
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be launched on October 4, 2023. Pre-orders for these new Google smartphones will begin on Flipkart on October 5.
