Google’s Heads Up app to stop using your phone while you walk

Google’s Heads Up app will remind you to look up from your phone when you’re walking down the street.

The Wellness app will have this function, which will prevent more than one accident with ‘Heads Up’ reminders.

Google has introduced in its Digital Wellbeing application the new active function that reminds users to raise the head of the mobile while walking down the street to avoid accidents.

“Heads Up” sends reminders to users to stop using the phone while walking, to focus on what is around them, although the company clarifies in the description that these notifications do not replace the attention that must be paid.

These notices first appeared in the code of Google’s Digital Wellbeing app in November of last year. Now the company has started distributing them, first on Pixel phones, as reported by XDA Developers.

The function can be activated in the “Reduce interruptions” section, and it detects the movement of users and has access to GPS to be able to send notifications and avoid colliding with a lamppost or crossing without looking first if a car is coming.
