Gunman holds 4-year-old daughter hostage on German airport tarmac in alleged custody dispute

An armed man reportedly passed through security at a German airport and is currently holding his 4-year-old daughter in his car on the tarmac.

The 35-year-old man burst into a gate at Hamburg airport on Saturday around 8:15 p.m. and fired several shots into the air with a gun, according to the federal police.

He also threw Molotov cocktails from his vehicle, which he parked next to a Turkish Airlines commercial plane while passengers were on board, German newspaper Bild reported.

The plane was evacuated quickly and all passengers are safe, police confirmed.

Shortly before he passed through security barriers, the man’s wife had contacted police about a possible child abduction.

Police also said a psychologist was speaking to the man and there was no indication that other people could be harmed as all passengers had evacuated the airport.
