Hardik Pandya ruled out for the 2023 World Cup
An ankle injury that Hardik Pandya suffered during India’s match against Bangladesh on November 19 at the MCA Stadium in Pune has forced him out of the 2023 World Cup. He also claimed five wickets in wins over Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Pandya has been replaced in the team by Prasidh Krishna. On Saturday, November 4, the pacemaker was accepted as a replacement by the tournament’s Event Technical Committee.
Krishna is available for the match on Sunday, November 5 at the famous Eden Gardens in Kolkata against Temba Bavuma’s South Africa. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Krishna recently represented Karnataka and took five wickets in as many games. Unless there are unforeseen circumstances, Krishna is unlikely to get a chance anytime soon because players like Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are already doing well.
