The Hollywood heir accused of the brutal murder of his wife and parents is being forced to appear in court half naked, his lawyer has claimed.
Sam Haskell IV, whose father is William Morris Agency executive vice president Samuel Haskell III, was stripped to the waist as he pleaded not guilty in the case during a court proceeding Friday in Los Angeles.
Haskell, 35, had to be naked because authorities believe he is at risk of self-harm, according to his attorney Joe Weimortz, who criticized it as “wild speculation.”
“Mr. Haskell has not indicated that he wants to harm himself,” Weimortz told Fox News.
But the sheriff’s department insisted that Haskell wear an anti-self-harm vest, he said.
Haskell was wearing blue prison pants and had his wrists chained in front of his waist when he appeared in court Friday.
His attorney claims Haskell cannot wear the self-harm vest due to a medical condition and that the Sheriff’s Office “will not allow him to appear in a shirt, robe or blanket.”

Haskell is suspected of dismembering his wife, Mei Haskell, 37, and his parents, Goashan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64, and was allegedly seen on surveillance cameras throwing a torso into a shipping container. trash.

Haskell was arrested Nov. 8, after a homeless person found a headless torso wrapped in plastic in a dumpster.
Authorities later found nearby surveillance footage that allegedly showed Haskell dropping off a heavy bag of trash the previous morning.
