Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church (TFOLC), sadly passed away at the age of 67. As per a statement shared on the church’s Facebook page on Tuesday evening, the esteemed preacher, based in Lagos, Nigeria, breathed his last in the United States on Monday. The message read, “The Fountain of Life Church Family, in complete submission to the will of God Almighty, announces the transition to a higher glory of our Father, Teacher, a devoted servant of the Most High God, Pastor Daniel Taiwo Odukoya, the Founding Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church. He transcended to glory on the 7th of August 2023 in the USA.” While the exact cause of his passing remains undisclosed, it marks a poignant loss. This event occurs within a span of less than two years since his 47-year-old South African wife, Nomthi Odukoya, passed away on November 9, 2021. Nomthi Odukoya, born Rosemary Simangele Zulu, left behind two sons with the Nigerian pastor: Timilehin and Jomiloju. Her demise came 11 years after their marriage. It’s also a poignant reminder of Pastor Odukoya’s previous loss. His first wife, Pastor Bimbo, had tragically perished in the ill-fated Sosoliso crash of 2005.
Taiwo Odukoya’s death cause explored
Taiwo Odukoya’s journey began on June 15, 1956, in the city of Kaduna, during the era of Colonial Nigeria. He was nurtured in this same city throughout his upbringing. His educational foundation was established at Baptist Primary School, Kigo Road, Kaduna, followed by St. Paul’s College (currently recognized as Kufena College, Wusasa) in Zaria. In 1976, he embarked on his higher education at the University of Ibadan, culminating in a petroleum engineering degree attained in 1981. His career as a petroleum engineer commenced at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in April 1982, following the obligatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) commitment. This professional chapter spanned until January 1994 when he took the decision to retire voluntarily from the NNPC, driven by his calling to the ministry.
In the year 1980, Taiwo Odukoya encountered Bimbo Williams during their time at the University of Ibadan. Their interactions led to the blossoming of a relationship that ultimately resulted in their marriage in 1984. Their union was blessed with the arrival of three children. Tragically, on December 10, 2005, Bimbo Odukoya, alongside 102 others, met their fate in the devastating crash of Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145. Bimbo Odukoya’s teachings and messages garnered widespread admiration and acceptance. Five years later, on January 5, 2010, Taiwo Odukoya embraced matrimony once more, this time with Rosemary Simangele Zulu, a native of South Africa. Their marital bond brought forth two sons. Regrettably, in November 2021, Taiwo Odukoya faced the painful loss of his second wife to cancer. The pastor shared the heart-wrenching news of his wife’s passing on November 9, revealing that she had bravely battled cancer for a substantial period of two years.
