‘I didn’t even see**’: Honduran returns from the United States after 15 years

With empty hands and just a backpack, this is how a Honduran who lived for 15 years in the United States returned to Honduras, after leaving in search of better life opportunities.

Through TikTok, Edgar Navarro shared a clip showing how one of his friends is undertaking the journey back to the land where he was born.

It was last Saturday, September 30, that the catracho, whose name is unknown, made the decision after spending 15 years of his life on American soil.

“Well, we didn’t do a damn thing, -I was- 15 years and 100 pesos (less than 2,500 lempiras) are what I carry,” said the man dressed in jeans, a black t-shirt and cap.

“The old man is leaving for Honduras, dad, no one dies from hunger there, buddy,” were the words that Edgar said to his friend as he left him at what appears to be an airport.

The tiktok already exceeds 90 thousand reproductions, 1,300 tastes (I like it), it has been shared more than a hundred times and has 115 comments.

“Excellent brother, in Honduras those who do not work die of hunger, but by fighting they pass and calm down”; “Not all of us are lucky enough to have a good job and save, we only earn to live” and “I won’t leave until I have good money,” one can read.

Not everyone has the same luck

The case of the catracho contrasts with the case of the young man from Catacamas, Olancho, who through the same social network said that he returned to the country after building his house.

“Look, friend, we didn’t save much, the only thing we did was something we didn’t have when we were children, a house to live in,” were his words.
