The Israel Defense Forces fought Hamas in heavy fighting in the northern Gaza city of Jabalia on Saturday, which is also home to the area’s largest refugee camp.

The attack came after Israel’s top military spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said on Friday that the IDF had achieved almost “full operational control” of northern Gaza.
On Saturday, Hagari said the IDF was continuing to expand its operations in southern Gaza, the Times of Israel reported.
“Upon entering new Hamas strongholds, troops engage in intense fighting,” Hagari said.
The IDF is still fighting “very intensely” in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, he added.

Both Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and War Cabinet member Benny Gantz toured northern Gaza on Saturday and promised that southern cities would suffer the same fate, the Times of Israel said.
