Describing the individual as a 33-year-old single IITian who had accumulated savings ranging between -1.5 million to 2.5 million dollars or 12 to 20 million rupees, the user listed the top six reasons for the decision.

These included a desire to be closer to parents, the convenience of having domestic assistance, the comparatively lower cost of living in India compared to the UK, a diminishing social life abroad, a pessimistic outlook about the UK economy and the potential for An Arranged Marriage in India.
According to the details provided in the Reddit post, the 33-year-old’s journey began when he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 2012.
Later, he worked as a quantitative analyst for an investment bank in Bengaluru for four years. He subsequently moved to London, where he remained in the banking sector for a further five years and then spent approximately two years in the technology industry.
Throughout his 11-year career, the publication highlighted substantial growth in his total compensation (TC), which started at ₹35 lakhs in 2013 and eventually reached 350,000 GBP in 2023.
Furthermore, upon deciding to return to India, the individual revealed that he meticulously calculated his annual expenses.
“I decided to reside with my parents for a while since I had not lived with them for the last 15 years and I was not sure when I would have a similar opportunity again.
As a result, my current spending rate is less than X (0.25-0.5X),” he clarified.
The man detailed that his usual outlays included transportation, food expenses and a gym membership, in addition to intermittent costs associated with travel and personal projects.
The individual also stressed the importance of putting health and relationships before wealth in his current lifestyle.
He expressed that from now on, he has set lasting goals for his life in India, which include finding a life partner, starting a family, and ambitiously aiming to adopt 1,000 children.
“I am embracing new ideas and experiences, allowing authentic interest and a sense of meaning and purpose to guide my path,” she articulated in the post.
