Israel raided Hamas terrorists’ luxury homes and parliament and police headquarters in Gaza City on Sunday, taking control of the sites and discovering a large cache of weapons and tunnel entrances beneath them.
Israeli paratroopers and armored units descended on the Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal neighborhoods, carrying out a series of rocket launches and attacks in the heart of Gaza City, where Hamas has held power since 2007.
Much of the once-prosperous area has already been devastated by Israeli airstrikes since the war began last month, but the Israel Defense Forces said they still found several Hamas operatives in Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal and the killed while also attacking some houses of wealthy terrorists.
The IDF said it found 35 tunnels in the area leading to Hamas’s 300-mile underground network, along with dozens of weapons caches, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Additionally, the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade and the Golani Infantry Brigade successfully took control of Hamas’s parliament building, its entire government complex and its police headquarters, The Times of Israel said.

The IDF also captured a faculty building at a Gaza university that allegedly served to produce and develop weapons for the terrorist group.
The Israeli army advance also seized a Hamas training base, a command center, interrogation rooms and detention cells.
Hamas officials have not yet commented on the fighting in Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal, as rolling communications blackouts have become the norm in Gaza.

Sunday’s attacks are the latest advances by the IDF in northern Gaza as it seeks to eradicate Hamas after the terrorist group’s Oct. 7 attack that claimed the lives of more than 1,200 people, mostly Israeli civilians.
More than 11,500 Palestinians have been killed since the war broke out, according to Gaza’s Hamas-linked Health Ministry, and at least 11 more were killed on Sunday after an Israeli airstrike hit a house in Jabalia.

“Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians are seeking refuge in United Nations facilities across Gaza due to intensifying fighting,” Guterres said in a statement. “I reaffirm that our premises are inviolable.”
The secretary-general’s statement came as Philippe Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, said shelters in Gaza cannot afford to become “damages.” collaterals” in the war between Israel and Hamas.
“In most of the affected facilities there were families, including seniors, parents and children,” Lazzarini said in a statement. “They were all clearly marked as UN buildings carrying a blue flag.
