A former employee of Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani and Councilwoman Tiffany Cabán served three months in jail for soliciting a minor for sex, public records show.
Matthew Thomas, a former official with the Queens branch of the Democratic Socialists of America who remains a card-carrying member of the leftist group, was arrested in 2014 after soliciting a 16-year-old boy for a gay relationship. sexual threesome with Daniel Simmons, former deputy attorney general of Delaware, according to local press reports at the time.

Thomas pleaded guilty to second-degree conspiracy in 2015 and was sentenced to three months behind bars.
Mamdani hired Thomas as communications director for his successful 2020 Assembly run.
Cabán hired him as an investigator for his unsuccessful run for the Queens district attorney’s office in 2019.

The progressive couple paid Thomas more than $22,000 for their services.
“I didn’t know any of this before I hired him,” Mamdani told The Post.

Cabán did not respond to a request for comment.
Thomas has also been a vocal critic of the Jewish state.
“The death of hundreds of Israeli civilians today is a terrible crime, which highlights the urgency of ending the conditions that generate this type of brutality: the military occupation of Palestine and the Zionist political project in general,” Thomas said in the day Hamas terrorists killed 1,400 Israelis.
And in 2019 he declared: “Zionism is white supremacy.”
