Currently presents Gillette Soccer Saturday for Sky Sports, and between 2011 and 2015 presented its Champions League coverage. He also presented ITV game show Alphabetical (2016-2017) and Channel 4 quiz show Countdown (2009-2011). Stelling declared his desire to leave football on Saturday 30 October 2021, with the 2021/22 season being his last in charge. Stelling grew up in a council house in Hartlepool. Career Jeff Stelling
In the late 1970s, Jeff Stelling began his television career as a reporter for Middlesbrough FC on Radio Tees. In the early 1980s he worked as a sportscaster on London’s LBC Radio Sportswatch program before moving to BBC Radio 2’s weekend sports program Sport on 2, where he covered the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and Seoul. Later in his career, he worked as a sports news broadcaster for TV-am, Channel 4, Eurosport and British Satellite Broadcasting before joining Sky in 1992 to provide coverage of horse racing, greyhound racing, snooker and darts. . He won a special edition of The Weakest Link for sports presenters in 2003. In 2004, Stelling was offered, but turned down, a position as presenter of the BBC’s new Saturday program Score.
In 2013, he took part in a Sky Broadband commercial that parodied a previous Sky Broadband commercial starring Bruce Willis. Stelling joined Twentyfour7 Football magazine in May 2013 and began writing articles for the magazine’s Dream Team. He was also included in the presentation work for EA Sports’ FIFA 15 game.
Jeff’s Recognition
Teesside University awarded him an honorary Doctor of Professional Studies degree on 23 November 2007. The Sports Journalists’ Association selected Stelling Sports Broadcaster of the Year for four consecutive years, based on voting by its members. Jeff Stelling Along with former town MP Lord Mandelson, he was made an honorary freeman of his home town of Hartlepool on 12 March 2010.

Jeff Stelling and his wife Liz live in Bishop’s Waltham, Hampshire, with their two sons Robbie (born August 1998) and Matthew (born November 1999), as well as daughter Olivia (born June 2003). In November 1998 they married in Richmond upon Thames. Jeff Stelling has run the London Marathon eight times and has a personal best time of 3 hours and 28 minutes. Stelling, Colin Cooper, Craig Hignett and 12 others climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2013 to raise money for the Finlay Cooper Fund, a children’s charity. The climb raised £100,000 for the charity. After accepting a request from the club’s owners, Stelling was appointed president of Hartlepool United in 2015.
