John Cusack had some strong words for the Democratic Party elite on Monday, calling them “full of shit” and criticizing them on social media for supposedly selling out the working class “for decades.”
“They have played an important role in creating the precise conditions for fascism to flourish – Obama’s corporatist Democrats – are to the right of Richard Nixon on domestic policy – Don’t believe me – look it up – and the Democrats have betrayed the class worker for decades, and this type of betrayal bought and paid for to the directors [sic]justice – historical precedent – any sense of moral or intellectual honesty – The kind of brutal, selfish, horrible actions that one only commits – because they can get away with it,” wrote in part in Xpreviously Twitter, Monday.
The “Say Anything” and “High Fidelity” star’s lengthy post, 57, continued with a critique of the party’s complacency with the rich, politics not left-wing enough and neglect of certain principles.
He argued that the trajectory of the party elite has planted fertile ground for Republicans like Trump to win.

“All your friends from Yale and Harvard will tell you how cool and smart you are, and they’re all in bed with the same big, powerful money players. And we run the world, right? – this kind of amazing amoral bullshit – is one of the main reasons (yes, there are others) why Trump’s demagoguery works on people. The Democratic elite IS full of s—,” he continued.
The lengthy statement came in response to a Jacobin magazine article that claimed some top Democrats are seeking to ban federal estate taxes.
“Imagine what FDR would say about such a proposed law?! Don’t worry, guys: Democrats will save .oooooo1% on taxes. The arrogance to do this is astonishing. It is a travesty and an insult to everyone’s basic intelligence. Contempt for people. Even trying this… Incredible. ” he continued.
