Davis began advocating for the Virginia General Assembly to make school safer for children with type 1 diabetes at the age of just four. Davis first appeared during the speech when Biden spoke about Joseph “JoJo” Burgess, a steelworker from Pennsylvania who was sitting next to Jill Biden in the first lady’s box. At that moment, Davis shook Burgess’s hand as the camera focused on the steelworker.
