Mumbai’s local trains are famous for their capacity for spontaneous kalesh. Men and women brandishing fists and other everyday objects is a common sight on local Mumbai trains. Videos of such fights go viral time and time again. However, this time it was not the Mumbai locals who caused trouble, but two women from Kolkata who were involved in a fight.

In the clip that took the internet by storm, a group of women are seen fighting on a local Kolkata train as one raises her sneaker to attack while another uses her fists to finish the fight.
Although it is not clear why the fight started or who landed the first blow, what is certain is that the people who were nearby were dragged into the fight without their permission. In the clip, a woman standing near her seat appears to be part of the main fight as she pulls the shoe off of her to end the fight.
As she continued to hit the girl in front of her with the slipper, a little boy was seen working hard to stop the fight. Even after several people tried to stop WWE’s apparent desi episode, things didn’t seem to calm down at the venue. Only after a stronger woman aggressively asserted her punches through the crowd and attacked the woman wielding the slipper did things seem to calm down.

People on the internet reveled in the brutal fight scene, the only item missing from the mix was some popcorn and a big screen. One joked about how the video was a big ad for a shampoo brand, given all the hair being thrown throughout the video.

Another user hilariously added that the video shot on the Kolkata local train looked like the “professional” version of what happens on a Mumbai local train. One more tried to guess why the fight started in the first place and came up with wacky scenarios.

One user noted how a woman in the back was unfazed by the chaos and was just enjoying the scene while capturing video of the fight.

While Kolkata is known for being one of the only cities in India to have trams, many people forget that the city also has the largest active suburban rail network in the country. The network installed in and around the Kolkata metropolitan area has the largest number of stations, being an extensive system that feeds the transportation needs of the locals.
