Kentucky mother of three who rarely plays the lottery wins $2 million Powerball

A Kentucky mother of three and occasional lottery player struck gold earlier this month after her co-workers convinced her to buy a ticket.

Jacalyn Armstrong’s family thought she was going to pass on the news of baby No. 4 after she returned to work following an appointment with an OB-GYN on October 4; It’s not like she won the $2 million Powerball jackpot.

“I told him I had some news and he didn’t believe me at first,” Armstrong laughed, remembering the moment she told her husband Jonathan.

“You could tell she was crying and he thought she was going to tell him she was pregnant. My mom thought the same thing when I called her. I thought, ‘What’s wrong with all of you?’” she told the Kentucky Lottery when her youngest son was born six months ago.

The Oak Grove resident said she rarely plays the lottery, but after hearing her coworkers talk about it, she decided to buy six Powerball tickets.

His winning ticket matched all five white ball numbers, earning him $1 million. Since he added Power Play, his earnings increased to $2 million.

The family plans to use the money to visit Jonathan Armstrong’s family in Pennsylvania over the fall holidays, as well as buy a bigger house and a new car. Part of the money will also be donated to his church.
