Barbarik had donated his head to Lord Krishna during the Mahabharata war, so only Shyam Baba’s head is decorated and worshiped in the Khatu Shyam temple. The part of the body below the head of the idol of Shyam Baba i.e. Dhad (Part of the body below the head), is made of sandalwood which is always covered with cloth. This dress is called Baga. This Dhad is always adorned with inner and outer clothing.
- The width of the Baga dress is about one meter and the length is nine to ten hands.
- The inner Baga of Baba Shyam is changed only once a year on Basant Panchami, while the outer Baga is changed daily.
- There is a Shilavigrah deity of Shaligram in the Sandalwood Dhad of Shyam baba. These idols are seen in very few places.
- The eyes, nose, ears, etc. are clearly visible in this Shalagram Shila. The crown is decorated on the head. This divine idol shows the Prodh Roop of Shyam Baba.

1. The temple will remain open for 24 hours on all Gyaras (Ekadashi), Baras (Dwadashi), Saturdays, Sundays and all holidays. The Khatu Shyam temple remains open 24 hours for the darshan of the Falgun Lakhi fair in the year 2023.
2. All devotees should note that it is now completely prohibited to offer prasad and carry flowers, perfumes and garlands in the Khatu Shyam temple. That is why now no devotee should take them to the temple.
3. Khatushyamji city is a no parking zone which means you cannot park your vehicle anywhere other than the designated parking area in the city.
If you park your vehicle in the no-parking zone, the administration will take it away from you and you will only be released after collecting a fine of at least Rs 500.
