In the most recent incident, a lion was seen strolling in the rain. The busy traffic on the highway did not seem to bother the majestic beast, as he continued to pace endlessly. Passers-by were shocked when they saw the lion on the road, and a car can also be seen pulling up.

The incredible 13-second video of this unexpected gathering, shared on Twitter by an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Susanta Nanda, soon went viral on social media, with many sharing it alongside the state’s high rainfall and flooding.

“Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein…Leon enjoying the rain and taking a walk on the flyover. Gujarat,” read the tweet that accompanies the video.

The clip stunned viewers, who couldn’t help but shudder as they watched this shocking and harrowing incident. This is what people wrote.

It is very common in Gujarat for lions and humans to roam each other’s territory 😊 but this may be due to heavy rain and flooding in Gir and surrounding areas.

Lions look good in jungles just as much as humans look good in cities. For the betterment of both, they should be confined to their own habitats.

Urban animal intrusion is often found in Gujarat

Apart from Africa, Gir National Park in Gujarat is the only place where you can see a lion in its natural habitat. This beautiful animal in Gir is 2.75 meters long on average, with a larger tail tassel, bushier elbow tufts, and noticeable belly folds. The national park also has 40 species of mammals and 425 species of birds.

Urban wildlife, also known as urban animal trespassing, refers to the phenomenon of wild animals entering cities and suburban areas. This occurrence is mainly due to human-induced factors, such as habitat loss due to urban development, leading wildlife to seek new sources of food and shelter.

Cities provide a readily available food supply through man-made garbage and waste, as well as water sources such as ponds and man-made bodies of water. Additionally, the urban heat island effect can attract animals seeking relief from extreme temperatures. Some species have shown adaptability to urban environments, using buildings and green spaces as alternative habitats.

The lack of natural predators in cities may also contribute to animals exploring these new territories. While urban wildlife can enrich urban ecosystems, it can also create conflict and risk for both humans and animals.

Balancing urban development with wildlife conservation is crucial to promote coexistence and implement wildlife-friendly measures in urban planning.
