A Florida man has been charged with threatening a New York-based Jewish organization after federal prosecutors said he left a foul-mouthed voicemail saying he wanted to “cause mass genocide.”
Deep Alpesh Kumar Patel, 21, of Sarasota, allegedly called the World Jewish Congress on Oct. 21 and recorded a voicemail that opened with the caller identifying himself by name, before launching into an unhinged and plagued tirade of profanity against Jews, according to a criminal complaint released by the Department of Justice.
“I want you guys to know, fuck you all. “Fuck all the Israelis,” Patel ranted on the call. “I wish they would go to hell.”
Patel’s hateful tirade culminated in an apparent threat of homicidal violence.
“If I had the chance, I would kill each and every one of you Israelis,” Patel said in the complaint. “Every one of you! Cause mass genocide of all Israelis.”
The World Jewish Congress was founded in Switzerland in 1936 to act as “the diplomatic arm of the Jewish people” and mobilize democratic forces against the onslaught of the Nazis in the run-up to World War II.

The threatening voicemail addressed to the organization quickly triggered an FBI investigation, which led to Patel via his phone number.
Law enforcement officers visited the 21-year-old at his home in Sarasota on October 24, and Patel confirmed making the phone call to the World Jewish Congress, but denied threatening anyone.
“When officers asked Patel to describe the content of the phone calls, he explained that he had called Jewish centers to express his family’s anger at Israel for its genocide of the Palestinian people,” the complaint said. “Patel stated that he did not intend to scare or threaten anyone, but that he wanted to use the harshest language possible to convey his anger.”
Patel was charged with transmitting in interstate commerce a genuine threat of harm.
If convicted, the 21-year-old could face up to five years in federal prison.
