An Indiana college student is accused of punching the skull of his girlfriend’s rabbit before warning her, “you’re next.”
Johnathan Quatroche, 20, was arrested at a woman’s Muncie apartment on Saturday after she came out of the shower and found her pet missing, according to Law & Crime, which cited an affidavit.
“When [the victim] got upset with [Quatroche] about the death of the rabbit, [he] He claimed that he killed the rabbit intentionally. [The victim] you told me that [he] “He said ‘she had to go and you’re next,’” the officers wrote.
The “very distressed” woman told her parents, who called the police.
Officers found the pet’s remains in a trash container outside the apartment complex.
Johnathan Quatroche was charged with one count of animal cruelty and one count of intimidation.
“The rabbit’s head had been smashed and was bloody,” police wrote in the affidavit.
Quatroche, who is a student at Ball State University, declined to speak to investigators and was reportedly released from jail after posting $10,000 bail in connection with charges of animal cruelty and one count of intimidation.
The victim, who told police she was Quatroche’s girlfriend, said he had “hit her causing bruises” in the past.
