In 2014, AIB was riding high as one of the few comedians to make it big on the Indian scene. Videos of him on YouTube were ranked within minutes of being posted and all the teens had his name on the tongue.

‘AIB was way ahead of its time’: One man’s tweet has the internet on fire
Life was simple and so was comedy. However, as with highs come lows, AIB also found itself embroiled in controversy. The comedy troupe, All India Bakchod, which had started with four members Tanmay Bhatt, Rohan Joshi, Ashish Shakya and Gursimranjeet Singh Khamba, came to an abrupt halt in 2018 after a series of controversies.
Now, after a few years without his regular content, a Twitter user took to the platform to share his thoughts on the company. Shubh noted how AIB was “decades ahead of its time.”
According to Shubh, AIB content was competing with even English comedy in 2015. He mentioned that now that level of sarcasm and barbeques is lacking in the Indian scene and Youtube is full of “vloggers, gamers and some shitty people”. embarrassing videos.”
AIB was decades ahead of its time, giving English comedy some stiff competition in 2015, today that level of roast comedy and sarcasm is lacking. Our YouTube content might have peaked back then, but now we only have shitty vloggers, gamers, and a few people making embarrassing videos. pic.twitter.com/hAA146olq3

The viral tweet received mixed reactions
The internet gave mixed reactions to Shubh’s analysis of the Indian comedy scene. Many backed down and expressed their strict opinions on the matter.
One user mentioned how for them the AIB roast, which was the first of its kind in the country, was full of cheap and rude jokes about body weight and skin color. However, for Shubh, the barbecue was like constructive criticism with many celebrities in attendance.
haha no way. a spectacle so big that all the celebrities were there to see it. constructive criticism with roast comedy was at its peak back then👍🏻

Another user listed all the comedy YouTubers at the time that were generating great content on the platform.
spending that 1gb of 3G@249 data in 2015 just to see it was worth every penny

One more agreed with the OP and admitted that the Indian comedy scene has become quite stale.
Yes, the quality of comedy has definitely gone down today compared to several years ago. I guess they figured it out, there’s not much money/respect

Another mentioned how they missed watching ‘On Air With AIB’ which was a TV show that was made for Disney Hotstar.
I miss “on air with aib” 👏

One reviewer came forward with their hatred for the company as they wrote things about why they didn’t enjoy watching AIB. They noted that the company’s comedy consisted more of recounting abuse and reciting WhatsApp jokes than actual intellectual commentary.
Oh no . It was bakwaas. utter crap. Saying abuse on stage is not comedy. Most of the pranks were whatsapp forwards.

Another chimed in and disagreed with the OP’s view that AIB was ahead of its time. They commented that it was not the company but films like Delhi Belly that were ahead of their time.
AIB was not ahead of its time. We have movies like Delhi Belly in 2010, times were changing. The only thing is that India is going backwards in terms of humor/satire and freedom of expression.

However, it seemed that Shubh had overwhelming support for it.
Very true…the time when AIB and TVF produced so much great content that no one then or today can surpass them or create content that is on their level.
