According to the video, the images were filmed in December 2023 on Soi Phratamnak 5, in the Bang Lamung district of Chonburi province. The video eventually went viral on other social media platforms. According to local accounts, the lion cub appeared to be between four and five months old.

According to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the pet’s owner, Sawangjit Kosoongnern, was legally allowed to keep the lion in Ratchaburi province.

However, he was not allowed to transport the pet to another location without prior consent. “Therefore, Sawangjit violated laws regarding removing a wild animal in public and changing its location without prior permission,” said Atthaphon Charoenchansa, head of the department.
