According to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the pet’s owner, Sawangjit Kosoongnern, was legally allowed to keep the lion in Ratchaburi province.

How was the situation addressed after the video went viral?

However, he was not allowed to transport the pet to another location without prior consent. “Therefore, Sawangjit violated laws regarding removing a wild animal in public and changing its location without prior permission,” said Atthaphon Charoenchansa, head of the department.
